I have been there. I have had to text my husband while in a one-stall bathroom in a bar to come tell the person who kept knocking on the door that I was going to be awhile. I’ve been the family member who always got hounded because I always disappeared after mealtimes to the bathroom and “got out of” doing dishes and cleanup. I was told for yeeeeaaaars that I needed to go gluten free (long before it was a “thing”) and refused because I am a total carboholic and am a beer girl.

Yes, I still have days where I spend a decent chunk of time in the loo (stress is a doosie, ya’ll). You know what else I have? Serenity in knowing I’m not always going to spend the entire concert in the bathroom (yes, it’s happened). Confidence in going out to eat without having to run to the bathroom… again. I feel good in my body, not only because I have more energy and don’t feel like shit all the time, but I am way more body positive as well.

I see you. I’ve been you. Now, you have the opportunity to be me.

You are a few simple steps away from having these things and more! I’m not going to sugar coat this process and say it’s easy… it’s not. What I will say is that the rewards you will reap by completing it are going to be leaps and bounds above anything you could imagine.

The foundational element you have to keep in mind throughout the process is why going through this process is so important to you and what you will gain as a result. For me, at the age of 28, I ended up with a gallbladder that was functioning at a minuscule 4% (they recommend removing them at the 40% line) that had to be removed and then had a lovely bout of dumping syndrome for about a year afterward. At the time, I was in grad school for nutrition, so I asked question after question until one of my professors asked if I was celiac.

I chuckled a bit and said, “well, they’ve been testing me for that all my life to no avail.” She said that didn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t true and that there was a direct correlation between the cholestasis I had and celiac disease. DING DING DING!!

So okay, I had been avoiding going gluten free for over ten years at that point, but I couldn’t really ignore the fact that I had possibly killed one of my organs as a result. Thankfully, I lived in Seattle at the time – a fabulously gluten-free friendly city. I decided to take the plunge and within a week, I kid you not, I was a different person. I’ve had a handful of times happen since then when I accidentally ingested gluten (one was my wedding day when I accidentally drank a groomsman’s beer and not my gf version and went directly behind a little barn to stick my finger down my throat – the party must go on!), and they have shown me how toxic gluten is to my body.

Because of those few experiences along with more than a decade of bathroom issues and stories, avoiding gluten is a no brainer for me. Do I wish to God someone would make a legit blueberry gluten free bagel, hells yes! Would I die for a light, fluffy glazed gf doughnut, omg you have no idea!!

Now for me, gluten was the culprit, but that doesn’t mean it will be for you. We are going to target five different disrupters that I have found cause the bulk of peoples issues digestively; gluten, dairy, refined sugar, corn, and soy. Keep in mind that this is NOT an allergy test. This is an elimination program, designed to help you discover which of these disrupters may or may not be causing your digestive upset. As much as I would looooove to have a real bagel or doughnut, would I actually eat them? NEVER.

You know why? Because my why is feeling good, feeling healthy, and not suffering everyday. Feeling good is what is now most important to me and it’s not something I’m willing to sacrifice on the level of eating gluten. I have discovered something that is far better than those yummy smelling confections… a joyful belly.

What’s so cool about a joyful belly? I’ll tell you.

  • Enjoying a meal and it staying in your system longer than it takes to pay the bill (and even longer than that!).

  • Going to a concert and actually getting to watch the show.

  • Being able to snuggle with your boo without worrying you’re going to let a big juicy fart loose.

  • The ignorant bliss of not knowing exactly where all the bathrooms are in your life.

  • Getting to live your life fully.

I know that from where you’re sitting right now, none of this seems feasible. You’ve been juggling the mess and the pain for years, why is this time going to be different? Two reasons – you and me.

I was you most of my life until eight years ago. Armed with a culinary degree and a Masters in nutrition, along with hitting rock bottom in my digestive life, I hit the sweet spot of creating change. Within a week of making the changes my body needed, I was a completely different person. I’ve taken my own experiences, along with my knowledge and lessons learned while coaching others, and created a program for you to get to where I am today.

Now for your role. To make this process successful, you have to discover why you want to be where I am today.

I know, you think I’m nuts for even saying this, but it’s true and it’s more than just not being in pain anymore. What are you missing out on right now that is important to you? What do you value most in life that your digestive tract is blocking you from? Whatever that why is, it is the true reason for you wanting to create change in your life. It is what will keep you on track in the moments when hope is hard to hold on to. Your why is what will keep you healthy long after this process. Feeling good and healthy is what kept me from devouring a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s when I was pregnant with my first daughter. Feeling good keeps me from drinking beer that isn’t under the 20ppm threshold, which means sometimes I’ve been in a bar without a drink in my hand, sacrebleu!

This is the part that is missing in most programs. Most diet programs give you the tools and education you need to know how to eat well, but if it were that simple, we wouldn’t be sitting here having this little chat (while, I’m assuming, you’re going to the bathroom?). My guess is that you know some of the steps you need to take to feel better but your current habits and behaviors are stopping you from following through.

Kiss that roadblock goodbye.

Through 1:1 coaching with me, you will get in touch with your values, what this process will gift you, and why that end result is important to you. You’ll have me with you to hold space and support you along the way. This is it. This is the time you make a change that will change the trajectory of your life.

Let me put it this way, if you don’t take this leap and let the universe catch you now, what will life look like a year from now? Is that truly where you want to be then?

You’re ready.
